Can anyone identify what this is growing on the ribs on the leaf of this Hydriastele? I've seen them occasionally on my other palms as well. Looks like some kind of insect egg or maybe a weird species of scale?

Thanks in advance,

Justin

From what I can see , maybe mealy bugs. I used to get them on houseplants back when I had them . Back then I used a little dish soap in water and mist them . There are better remedies at the local nursery . You can take a sample in a sealed baggie and they can recommend the right treatment. Harry

Aphids, you can use ladybugs to kill them.

It's definitely not aphids and I'm not concerned about treatment, just looking for identification. Took the macro out for better pictures. Looks like a scale insect but not one I've seen before.

I'm not an expert, but seems to resemble scale. Most will use physical removal to gradually control their numbers. For severe infestations,  some will use systemic pesticides.
