What are the differences between Saribus rotundifolia and Saribus merrillii that we can identify? What kind of Saribus do you think is in this picture?

Saribus merrillii is a new one for me. See link to Palmpedia

Not much info available. Appears to be quite cold sensitive (z10b). I suspect it is very rare as opposed to S. rotundifolius (which even I have)

If I had to choose I would say rotundifolius only because it is so common in the US. Rotundifolius has very large shark- teeth spines. How big are the teeth on merrillii?

I'd like to be under the sea in an octopus' garden in the shade.

Interesting.  We only have Saribus rotundifolia here, and instantly fell in love with the red fruit.  Will have to give the genus another look, but if the zone assignment on PalmPedia is accurate, my location wouldn't have a shot in the dark.

According to my picture. I don’t see the teeth on merrillii.
