Chamaedorea genoformis the necklace palm

A nice little trio of chamaedorea genoformis I’ve had these little cuties for 23 years in there containers I should plant them in the ground for some reason I have not done that so far its nice to have a collection of palms in containers you can create a miniature rainforest anywhere anytime you want with container plants I started out collecting plants in containers when I first left home renting not having any place to call a permanent garden so containers become the normal for plants now with  a property and a garden container growing is still fun it challenges the grower and you learn a lot from container growing

You have done it this time !!  Prepare to be a victim of an armed hold up.  I am so envious that I'm about to turn inside out.

I think I really hate you

Yea , I only have a few potted plants as it is challenging with our warm , arid summers , to maintain them. Those are very nice . As I said in one of your previous threads , I have a few ( 2 pots , 4-5 stems each) Metallica that I like to move about and after 20+ years I don’t want to give them a permanent home in my garden. They are about 4-5’ tall (over 6’ including the pots) and they are happy . I just keep them in the shady spots , one on my covered porch. I think some palms can be happy for many years in containers with little fuss. The Chamaedorea seem to be really adept at container homes. Those that you have are confirmation. . Harry

My shade house runs the full length of the house and is overflowing with potted plants, as is my drive way, front porch, back patio, most rooms in the house, along the backyard path and on shelves attached to the fence.  In summer it's 3 hours per day watering the outdoor pots but the houseplants I can get done in just over an hour.  I have a Livistona decora in a huge pot in full sun, that takes a lot of upkeep to stay looking nice but worth the effort @Harry’s Palms

Oh it never ends watering especially in summer yes there is something about container growing that I find rewarding plus an advanced palm in a container makes a wonderful gift but I never wanted to be a orchid grower with thousands of containers to give away when the time comes to retire but it looks like my palms are not far behind the orchid obsession oh well it is what it is I guess retirement is not all about golf and fishing
