Walked out the door on a rainy morning to be greeted by this macrocarpa leaf I hadn’t even noticed it opening too busy looking at the other ones I have with good rainfall my chambeyronia are throwing some good red this season in summer I had the odd new leaf but nothing like the autumn colours now

Maybe it’s the lighting , but that one looks more light red than the others . Mine is a much darker red when it opens , but it is in sun with not much shade. Harry

Sonarfans did mention anthocyonins  funny he did my wife is doing science at uni and the topic of the week was anthocyanins it’s all about the colour pigments
