Finally got around to giving this trio of Dypsis rosea some TLC. After trimming off some old leaf sheaths and fronds, they are looking rather epic. On island, we always referred to this palm as ‘Hawaiian Punch’, for obvious reasons. The smaller of the three needed more trimming and doesn’t have much color. These are not small palms.

The white 5 gal. bucket for some scale in the one photo is between the two trunks.

This is another one I haven’t seen before. It looks nice but probably needs the tropical climate . I probably would never see one unless it was in a greenhouse. Harry

Here is the only one I have. It has grown really good for me and every time it drops a leaf the red comes out

Mine is growing surprisingly well in a climate with year round average temp of 15C/59F and sub freezing and temps over 40C/104F are both not uncommon. Gets a bit of sunburn and slight frost burn but growth is quite rapid most of the year.

Hey John, your rosea are looking healthy and fantastic.

Richard, thanks for the comment. Us palm geeks just love it here, we feel fortunate.

Central Floridave, looking good man, I use a long pole saw to do the trimming. Luckily this is a rather easy palm to trim, the petioles are soft and not stringy.

Tim, good on you, palm has nice color and looks good.

This post inspired me to inspect my palms. I had forgotten about it since they are so tall and I don’t see them anymore unless on a ladder!

Those are terrific!! They just melt in our Broward/Miami-Dade hot summer nights.

I'm considering planting a couple in my yard, I'm in satellite bch, east central FL,  we're on a barrier island,  may I ask where you are and maybe some ideas about your Roeas not growing?

Tin, awwww good question. I’m sure it has as it’s been flowering for years now. Honestly, there are palms in the garden that I regularly collect seed from and this isn’t one of them. Three is enough is my best answer.

Nice! I put the three I got from Floribunda directly in the ground last year in full shade and they really took off now showing lots of trunk rings from none last year. Definitely a palm species in the “cute” category.
