Hey!

Can you guys tell me your personal experiences with the mule palm? Cold hardiness, light requirement, etc.

My other question is that what palm would you recommend that has silverish leaf and is as cold hardy as a butia, brahea, trachycarpus

There are several Butia that are quite silver, Brahea armata, Brahea 'super silver' (very cold hardy but not sure how hardy), Sabal uresana 'highlands' form and Chamaerops humilis var. 'argentea' (formerly var. 'cerifera').

Well these last few winters the coldest was like -10C° but usually it goes down to -5C° for a few days and thats all. Im from Balatonfüred Hungary which counts is in zone 7

Im pretty sure a Mule Palm would survive here if I cover it or even put heating cables when it gets colder

A good indicator for a butia leaning mule are the burgundy colored boots as well as the more curved fronds.
