Plumeria in the yard are starting up too, but waiting for the first flower on the Plumeria in " Plumeria Jail " to fully open before posting..

As mentioned, and posted in the " official " Plumeria thread,   a couple morning shots of Plumeria cv. San Pedro Du Lac X  ...X = because it is a seedling  i'll be naming later,  once i settle on one..

Pod Parent, San Pedro Du Lac, was originally collected on a Volcanic slope at 8898Ft in the town of De Leguna in Guatemala, by Florida Colors Nursery owners / lifetime Plumeria experts  Luc and Carol Vannoorbeeck.

Another 2024 first time flower-er ..Pachycormus discolor..  Flowering in a 5gal pot.  Figured i'd be waiting another ...X # of years... before i'd see flowers.  Now to determine the sex.. ( Since Pachycormus tends to be dioecious  like Bursera, Boswellia, etc related Genera in the same family, Anacardioideae )

Bursera microphylla  " Waterman Mountains Form "  having a boom year.  Appears the flowers are functional hermaphrodites  ..Have both male and female bits n' pieces present that are capable - in theory at least -  of pollinating each other..  which 🤞,  means getting some seed off this specimen this year.

My other B. microphylla,  supposedly the standard variety / form from Sonora State,  **See below**  flowered / set a few fruit last year.  Not flowering yet atm.

*** While some sources lump all regional variants into the " main " species,  this specimen was sold to me as  the form of  B. microphylla  from the Waterman Mountains. I have also seen nurseries it trust offer various other forms / variants of the species, listed as such that other folks don't tease out..

The other specimen, which came from a different grower, is supposedly the  standard / " Sonora - proper " form of  the species..  Growth, bark patterning, and leaves ( esp. ) are very distinct between the two.

Smoke tree (Psorothamnus spinosus), doing it's thing in an urban setting.  Rarely planted in gardens as it literally appears dead most of the year, they come alive with vibrant blooms for a few short weeks each June.

A better look at the " Shy " G. coulteri ...Not so shy this year  ..Thank you extra boost of Langbeinite  ..and not being impatient :greenthumb: Interesting that besides the flowers being a touch smaller, they lack much noticeable scent compared to the bigger, not so shy specimen.

My G coulteri is still asleep, and probably won't wake up till next month.  I don't think our spring cool is enough to wake them up and get them going in time for good summer growth and flowering

The two out front and the seedlings have been a little slow to really start pushing good growth so far also, even though it's been pretty toasty. No flowers on either this year..

Think once the weather pattern snaps into the typical " summer in the west " regime, yours should kick into gear. Remember, these can flower as late as September so..

As long as it's growing, you'll be good..

Hot n' dry, but G. coulteri  at the old house doesn't mind..  Flower cycle #2. May need to give it a drink though..

Yanking some " street trash " out of one of the front beds, noticed the smaller / youngest planted coulteri w/ a few flowers / buds sprinkled on it now..  Bigger one in the side bed pushing growth steadily now, but no flowers / buds on it..

666_2121.thumb.JPG.4aa50039acbb7170a36eb690b8bb33c4.JPG

Both got their spring dose of Langbeinite back in May but may need to up the dose for the bigger specimen since the side bed it is in was a litter box for awhile   ..hence, a lotta' Nitrogen being pulled from that soil.   Lotzz a'  N = lots of nice green growth  ..but nada flowers.

i'll fix that.

Early Kalstroemia grandiflora  flowering away.  More starting to pop up.

FL. Native   Citharexylum spinosum  flowering a touch earlier than usual..  Tiny flowers,  powerful fragrance after dark, esp. when it is humid..

Placed it where it gets more sun this year to test how well it accepts more exposure.. Not a flinch yet. ...Just have to keep it watered.

Since the Coral Vine is currently settling in against the wall, taking that space ....and i need more seed of it,  decided to hoist a temporary trellis under the Ficus this year to grow out Trans Pecos Morning Glory ..and some seed from another Morning Glory sp. collected down by the border in 22.

We'll see if this is sturdy enough to hold everything up, or if they'll be climbing up the Ficus ( not that that would be an issue.. ) and everything else ( ...Might have a problem, lol )

Also scattered seed of some Legume i'd collected east of town i don't have a proper ID of yet.  Could be wild Tepary, could be a native Tephrosia sp..  Isn't Galactia..   We'll see, ..if they sprout and aren't eaten as seedlings..
