Palms of New Guinea book - FREE download now available!!

We have just made PDFs of the Palms of New Guinea book freely available for download! We hope that this makes it even more available to the widest audience. Of course, we still encourage you to buy a hard copy - but the electronic version allows everyone to use it in different ways. We've made two version available - one low resolution and one high resolution. The low res one works really well on a phone. I hope you enjoy it!

Thanks. I usually buy hard copies if the book is good. Electronic versions allow me to get familiar with the contents and decide whether to buy it. I'm glad to see publishers offering free ebooks. For a lot of us they are just a way to leaf through the material -- a good hard copy can't be replaced by electronic versions.

Thank you, Bill. That is a very kind thing to do, especially considering the many years and the financial outlay involved in such a massive project. It is obviously a huge effort and you and your equally esteemed co-authors deserve every congratulation for completing it. I for one am quite excited to start exploring it.

I'm a big believer in printed books and love my botanical library...but let's face it, having a digital version when you want to search out a word in the text...there's a definite plus to having such a "companion" to the hard-copy version. So I will certainly invest in the book, but am very grateful to have a digital version running alongside.

A big thumbs up for a digital version! I look forward to having the hard copy which I prefer as reference material, but having it as an electronic file is a bonus.

One is now able to comprehend the extensive endemics to New Guinea.

Anyone else having trouble reaching the link? I’ve tried multiple browsers, and multiple devices (iPhone, Mac and PC). I always get a gateway timeout error or an error referring to the Kew site not sending any data.

Yes - it is behaving badly. Sometimes it works, othertimes not. The Developers are looking at it apparently. Very frustrating. Apologies for the disappointment. Keep trying!

I received my copy about a week ago and in addition to an already valuable reference, it’s also quite a hefty volume for the bookcase. You won’t be disappointed.

The introductory chapters are well written and worthwhile read, so do yourself a favor in understanding the complex nature of New Guinea.
