I hate dumping in to the bin surplus seeds, so usually I sow or even spread them in empty pots with dirt. If they survive winter, I come across surprises in next summer. Here several Brahea brandegeei seedlings and a huge blue Chamaerops (Not from C cerifera seed, beacause I do not have female cerifera, double surprise).

Below are palm seedlings that made it through our miserable winter. Days of rain, below normal temps - but nothing near freezing - and nearly 90 days with no sun. Nothing grew over the winter and nothing germinated. So all the seedlings I photographed germinated in 2023 before fall. Most of them are species hardy to SWFL winters. So, here goes:

Palms of Victory I shall wear

Cape Coral (It's Just Paradise)
Florida
Zone 10A on the Isabelle Canal
Elevation: 15 feet

I'd like to be under the sea in an octopus' garden in the shade.

So I walked around and took some pics of volunteers that pop up around my palms . The C. Radicalis I planted from a different location , so technically not volunteers. The first is the Radicalis that I planted, the second is C. Microspadix that just popped up under the original plant, the third is a Queen or Syagrus Romanzoffiana, and the last pic is future C. Microspadix babies! I don’t really have any in pots right now except for a couple of Wodyetia that are taking their time germinating. Harry
