Monterrey, NL México Palms

I got a chance to visit Monterrey, Mex for my in-law wedding. It is more like a palm oasis trip for me. I found all the usual suspects: Washington robusta, sabal mexicana, queen, phoenix and a weird indoor royal palm.PXL_20240219_183011470.thumb.jpg.f67b7d971dc65ffdcfa28f75de26237a.jpgPXL_20240219_220526489.thumb.jpg.a2c17321e7bad70b04f503e85ecaf9ae.jpgPXL_20240220_215009061.thumb.jpg.d961a661ab9dba10a6bd1f345d86699f.jpgPXL_20240219_220312887.thumb.jpg.0e8e5413349297fd74885d4a03a9f083.jpgPXL_20240220_214332269.thumb.jpg.33179a6795571965fbf42f1702883022.jpgPXL_20240220_214456937.thumb.jpg.d0ec2d08ddfa78bee6f6ca3b677af390.jpgPXL_20240220_213530063.thumb.jpg.444aabcf7e6f0285919188ab6b93e624.jpgPXL_20240221_010537288.thumb.jpg.945e8426d1fc3c520f76d319cccc6483.jpgPXL_20240221_212828647.thumb.jpg.a0afa8e2ca8a2aaab5a06ceb95027dc0.jpgPXL_20240222_162837950.thumb.jpg.448755bfa96a92814bdef3667c57e2b7.jpgPXL_20240222_161945073.thumb.jpg.013f998b5b4f39d35fe253b7719a962e.jpg Unfortunately ,I still haven't found the native brahea. 😀

Nice post! I've spent a fair bit of timing perusing Google Street maps for Monterrey.  I'm jealous of those gorgeous queen palms.  Even though they still get the same blue northers S. Texas gets but they don't seem to last so long or be so severe. Enough warmth for the queens to have survived 2021.

For several years there has been talk of a train between San Antonio and Monterrey to promote tourism and trade between the two metro areas. I really wish they get that going. Monterrey looks gorgeous being at the foothills of the Sierra Madre Occidental!

Thanks for sharing your palm trip photos!

It’s always nice , when traveling , to see palms and different plants in various climates. I was visiting my brother , many years ago , near Yosemite. It was Christmas time and there was snow on the ground. The place we stayed had a beautiful Windmill palm between two buildings , covered in snow. Harry

The owner of the business I work at keeps talking about Monterrey, saying he’s going to open a satellite branch down there. I hope he does now, looks great. I’ll find an excuse to go check on things down there and get to check on the palms too 😉

That's the "glass city".  It can get quite hot there some months.  Great pics!

Monterrey looks so gorgeous when it is not covered by smog. The city is growing so rapidly, maybe it will pass Guadalajara. It is cool to see Coconut tree growing in Monterrey, I wish I had checked the past post about it before I flew there.

Oh I went there to the Grutas 7 years a go. At that time, I didn't have a thing about palm tree yet.

Anyways, more pics of phoenix roebelenii, sabal, and chamaerops.
