Rare Butia Crosses

Recommended Posts

Hi

In march 2023 I've planted one double trunk palm looking very much like Butia as trunk, although a bit slender ,but still Butia

the leaves were different though..

Very arching ,down and aside ,long ,thin  segments !

It may have Siagrus  geen in it but I m not sure

A guy from Belgium said.. it may be reversed cross Butia Yatay x some Siagrus and Butia again

Or cross between Yatay and Eriospatha

What I know is that  are grown from seeds  in South Italy

Now they are painted in South Bulgaria zone 7 a-b

I'll be grateful and happy to know more about this palms variety

because it's very unusual looking and  cold hardy

Withstand -15C  for a week with passive protection and regular cold  under zero for two months already

the leaves are dry But the center is alive

Compare to the other Butias I've got This one suffers more damage but it will recover

I never seen anything like this before

and I have been searching extensively for any information, nothing so far

The seller here in Bulgaria says it's Butia but nothing else

Any relative pictures ,names or  information is appreciated!

🙏🙂
