Hey all. Last spring/summer we planted two pygmy date palms in our front yard where it has done relatively well considering the Vegas heat (had some what I believe to be sunburn, starting around August/September). Recently we started to notice the ends of the palms have started to brown, and we're concerned we are doing something incorrect with their care. For the winter, we water them once a week for about 15 minutes (local watering restrictions in place), and have not yet fertilized them this year.  Not sure if there's other care, or change of care I should be doing. Was hoping some of you here would have any input on what's happening to our palms, and how we can fix it! Thank you in advance.

Cold damage, esp. if the browning appeared within the last few weeks..  Tough palms and will grow out of it by spring.  Fertilize w/ a high Potassium ( K ) fertilizer starting around the 2nd week in March to get them off to a good start as it starts to warm up.

..Some specimens around my neighborhood here near Phoenix.  Watered well / fed regularly, they'll take our heat w/ out too much damage.

2nd shot is a group of Pygmys around the corner, right after the " Hell Spell " we'd had last July.

3rd shot is a group of them ..Among the largest specimens in the immediate neighborhood,   right after the cold spell a few weeks ago.  2 of the heads on this last group of specimens in this yard  ( Shot #4 ) was killed by something brought on by last summer's heat.
