Some years ago a bowling buddy of mine brought some dates to the alley  and gave me some to munch on.  I took the seeds home and planted them.  Three sprouted and I put them in the ground as a clump of three.  Don't remember the date, but they are about 6' tall right now.

Unfortunately Joe passed away this year.  But every time I walk past those palms I'm reminded of Joe.  He's probably averaging around 300 now.

I usually plant trees or associate tehem with folks that have passed on . For me it is such a special way to honor someone ----- Dear friend of mine South African Philippe Cremer died in 1997 --- this Jubeaopsis caffra honors hime ---- He and I visited the habitat in 1986 and this is the lone survivor for the trip jubeaopsis.bmpJubeaopsis3.jpg.74c9df9827cc95ac75d91ec9f189d6e9.jpgJubeaopsis1Irna.thumb.jpg.5d315967e3d2426a9e4111cba2db9622.jpg

It wasn't planned that way.  The idea just came to me after he passed.

Right, I realized you must have planted them some time ago for them to be 6' from seed by now. Still, nice to have them in your garden to remind you.
