In showcasing our palms, it necessary to provide proper accent plants and even a nice carpet below our feet when walking in the landscape.

In my area, the older properties had centipede installed, which I actually prefer. It's a bit complicated to maintain as it doesn't go truly dormant in the winter. New residential properties use Bermuda and some of the better commercial properties use Zoysia. Both of these go dormant and so, one can use stronger weed-killers in the off season. Also, they're more aggressive runners so they mend themselves better.

I was reading on-line that many areas out west are beginning to ban artificial turf (Astroturf). These were popular as they required no water. Now, the concern is that they emit "forever chemicals_ into the ground and may contaminate groundwaters.

Do others have lawn preferences for their landscapes?
