Purchased this in 2016.  Has gone through Irma and Ian.  Has grown fast for me here in Cape Coral Florida.  Some pics attached.  Leaflets will only separate after heavy winds.  A special palm.  Thanks @Mandrew968

No.  Haven't yet.  Have 2 seedlings in the ground that I will let grow and see...

I have one 30" in height, it seems to be slow growing for me, what size was it when purchased in 2016?

Wow! Great looking palm! The fronds and crownshaft are distinctive.

I picked a couple up at a plant sale a year or two ago. I wonder if its the same as yours? I was starting to think it may be a schefferii but the last frond came out with a long petiole, so maybe?

You got the real deal there!

I believe it was a 3 gallon size so very small.  Maybe 1 and a half to 2 feet to top of leaf.

3 gallon.  Small.  About 13 feet or so to bottom of crownshaft now.

Hoping to find one of those mutant P.  elegans one day.

Looks fantastic. I have just germinated some standard P. elegant seeds  but it will be a few years before I have anything that spectacular

Wow that looks cool.  I love the oddball ones.  Does it handle cold better? I'm betting not since I like the look lol.

Mine has been in the same pot for 2 years.  I put it in that spot to get acclimated, and I just realized it has rooted into the ground through the pot.

The regular P elegans take anything my climate throws at them and they are one of the fastest growing palms available to me.  Now of course I am dying to get one of these.  Naturally I will probably never be able to find one anywhere.  I love anything with unusual leaves and stand out crownshafts.

I kept it in a pot because I wasn't sure where to plant it.  I am still unsure this is the right spot as it gets flooded occasionally when it rains real hard.  I really need to put it into the ground soon.

Planted it this weekend into the ground.  Will see how it does in a year or two.

It can definitely tolerate some flooding.  

It was slow after I planted in into the ground taking it's time to grow the roots, but this year it has kicked up a notch in growth and put out three new leaves so far.  Here is hoping it will speed up and keep it's entire leaf characteristics.

Looks great.  Will definitely grow fast now.  As an adult it should keep the leaves like "window panes" if you know what I mean.  Still mostly together but separated some near the base of the leaflets. The less wind the better too.    Beauty.

Lovely looking mutation that palm has. I’m growing a batch of maybe 100 P. elegans seedlings right now from a standard parent as they are nice palms regardless. Unfortunately in my 9b climate they might forever be pot palms.

Is P. Elegans one that I should put in a pot outside and cat proof? I got an unlabelled seedling in a care package from @Barry and P Elegans his guess. It hasn't grown much and is still in a Solo cup, I've tried to keep it shaded indoors since even my grow lights burned it a little. It's put on weight so I know it's growing roots, but I really do want to start moving stuff outside until the cold shows up. Maybe these are just really slow from the seedling stage? I'm just trying to let things bulk up under the LEDs before I throw them out into the violent sun and heat here even though I know 90% of my stuff is destined to live in pots forever.

They like a bit of a greenhouse climate as seedlings. So indoors it may be a bit slower and struggle to get past its baby stage.

Warmer soil temperatures and increased humidity definitely helps them. They are a palm from the tropics.

Welp I've only got the one right now, and it's in a solo cup with drain holes inside of another solo cup to catch the excess water. I do mist it daily. I guess I could put it on the heat mat and empty the drainage cup less, if that'd help me get it potted up sooner? I've just tried to keep it away from the bright light because it sunburned so quick when I didn't think it was really getting that much light.

Came out true...I just had one seed I left sprouted to see if it would come true and it did.  Picture attached...
