Frost cloth and christmas lights

Recommended Posts

For my Majesties I got frost cloth, incandescent christmas lights in different sizes and burlap.

What I had in mind was stuffing hay around the crown then tie up the fronds togheter. Then wrap the palm from head to toe in lights followed by 2 layers of frost cloth then mulch really high with hay.

Good idea? Could I keep it like that for 2 months and just power on the christmas lights at night if needed and it would protect well and not harm the palm?

What zone/temps?

Tecnically 9A I think. However very unique climate with very dry and short bursts of cold. Like we had -5.6c for 30 minutes or so one night. Then the days heat up to 20-25+ allways. We have Royals and Robilinis, edible Bananas etc around the area and they do fine longterm here.

I'm thinking about putting incandescent xmas  lights on my Washy trunk  a little early and before I might need them .  It would be nice to have that festive look on the palm while the  fronds look good . Since the lights are already on the palm it would be easier to just apply a layer of blankets .

Wow that looks great. What zone are you in and what species of Banana?

Curious to what frost cloth you are using ? When I was looking for frost cloth I found several different   type / brands made to different specs.

Row cover Supreme 1.5oz is the one I choose.
