Zone 10a at best after 2007 AND 2013, on SW facing hill, 1 1/2 miles from coast in Oceanside, CA. 30-98 degrees, and 45-80deg. about 95% of the time.

    To be very frank with you all,My very soul is inside this forum,What is left in me is just a body.Now i know the life of a married man ! :mrlooney:

    And Iam at the moment taking videos of our garden having palm trees and i will soon post more visuals...And by the way is there a tutorial

    in this forum as to how to search my old post. i.e all titles started by kris ?

    And do anyone know programs which help to join MP4 HD video files without authoring or re encoding.Since the camera iam using is GoPro Hero 3 Black edition but the free software that they provide does not have the option to join files ? So editing of the mini video files into one movie is big problem,Since its in 1080p/24fps/protune. While youtube supports these files but editing it I find it difficult.

    Dear Philippe Vanakam,

    Iam from south india,yes Areca & coconut,royal palms,caryotas,cycads & some cactus grow very well in our hot tropical climate.

    Rain fall is bit erratic.Sometimes more but this year its very scarce.Caryopha's like talipot palms grows very well but no one plants them.

    Dear Kris,

    I went often to Tamil Nadu, before the tsunami.

    And I loved the country and the landscape before I knew little more about palms.
    I remember the view on the country side from Mahabalipuram hills; bright green, blue lakes, tall Talipots, or the red soil on the way to Pondichery!

    Once i visited the mountains on the way to Tekkadi ( Kumili) Kerala border; wonderful jungle!

    Your landscape is not so different from Srilankan one, maybe more dry?
    Doranakandawatta is located close to Avissawella, 60 km east of Colombo, towards Kandy, north of Ratnapura.

    Vanakam Nalla Nanban.

    Dear Rik,

    Its around 10 to 11 feet overall height.But its trunk is hardly 2 feet from the ground and its still retaining the dried boots of the old leaf fronds.

    these palms love D.A.P(Di-Ammonium-Phosphate) fertz very much.Which is usually feed during the rainy seasons.

    And its growing in a semi shade location of our garden.And i have stopped watering it So it grows naturally.
