Dear Friends  :)

Today lets see the Bizie's planting on the ground visual illustrations..

And the pit for this palm too was specially made with loose sandy soil..here is a link for those who wish to see the soil replacement work for these special palms..

http://palmtalk.org/cgi-bin/forum/ikonboar...t=ST;f=1;t=4793

I must say that this palm is also close to 2 years of age group raised from the seeds imported from _

http://palmtalk.org/cgi-bin/forum/ikonboar...t=ST;f=1;t=4793

And now lets see the stills of it when it was growing in our roof top garden !

Now to the still of this beauty taken just few minutes before the entire planting or grounding operation..and we drenched the barrel with a half bucket of water to free the stuck up roots inside the barrel before we could tilt the barrel & pull this palm out !

And usually we do the grounding work only due the sunset since at that time we have less of solar glare and the air is much plesent to the workers & the palm.

here are the visuals...

Now we gently tied the leaves & fronds together so that it does not poke our eyes while we are pulling it our of the barrel and transporting it to its final frontier(Destination).. ???

And i must say that november and december months are our rainy season ccommences and followed by gentle winters..

so to play safe and prevent root rot of any kind, the bottom layer where the bizie lady rest was filled and leveled using course river sand.then we placed this fan plam on it and once again the sides and its top surface was also filled with that new sandy soil...

And this location receives sunlinght only from noon 12:30 P.M to 2:30 P.M evey day since our house cast shadows on this planted area ! so i contemplate that this palm will grow very slowely from now on..

as i have told my garden lack free space and iam doing my best to squeeze few palm in this already dense garden..

Dear David  :)

yes the rear green structure is the compound wall and its heaviely built and the base of it has a concreatised beam.and this is the same place where the was once a tall coconut tree used to be..

but had to cut it down since its fronds & nuts used to destroy our's & neighbours car body finish & break our windsheild screen..

i understand that you want to say that the plam is in a very cramped up area_yes,it's true but to the front side of the palm is fully open up to 20 feet only after that our house structure begins.and if it grows slow no problem.since tall bizie lady's look a bit less beautiful unlike when they are dashing in their teens... :D

Lots of love,

Kris  :)

Thats pretty tight. Seems like you can't drive a block in South Palm Beach County, without seeing a few massive Bizzies. Mine grew into a monster with six feet of trunk in just four years.    Randy

Dear Randy  :)

thanks for your concern but have alloted large section of space in our garden only for the CIDP's and Corypha's..so iam very tight in real estate space and our forum memebrs kept cautioning me that those palms hate to be in containers for long..so that is the reason i grounded it ! lets see what happens ?

And randy you mentioned about beautiful Bizie palms i & around the place you live.will you kindly take us all on a visual tour_i mean can you start a thread on Bismarkia's seen in your city !

thanks & also warm welcome to our board...

Hi Kris, I was a little concerned about the proximity of the wall too...but, I see in the last post that your bizzie will grow over the wall in no time. It will only enhance the street from the outside of your home. I have one massive bizzie and it´s just beautiful...thank´s for another tutorial!!! Peter

Dear Peter :)

Kris, I salute your bismarckia - imagine how much larger it would be if it were planted in the full sun!

I have one planted now which is exactly the size that yours was in 2008.

Congratulations with your Bismarckia Kris.

I will have to get a bizzie for my garden too.

Here in Costa Rica they are becoming very popular , just about any self-respecting palm-collector has one now.

In parks you can see them as centerpieces in flower arrangements.A few years ago they were hard to see.
