I have one of these growing in the shade on the north side of my house. Still does well,as all med fan palms are tough as nails. Nice thing about this variety is the mostly spineless petioles! Seeds are much smaller too than the standard and cerifera variations, being only about 1/3 the size. I started some seeds from my own tree 2 years ago, and here's what they look like now. Still too young to pick any winners. Planted a few seeds in their own 1 gallon pots and a couple hundred in community pots to see if less competition would make them grow faster. Nope,is the surprising answer.🤷‍♂️

    Great looking Vulcano. What kind was the pollen donor? This may have a big impact on what the seedlings turn out to be?

    My vulcano is just open pollinated. It's a several year experiment to see if the mothers genes prevail in some of the seedlings. Color already looks spot on for 'vulcano', so that's very encouraging. :greenthumb:
