We don't really have a sub-forum here to discuss cooking or eating any of the many palm species that produce edible fruits. So, I thought I might ask here to see if anyone has a good recipe for Pindo (Butia sp.) jelly or jam?

My small tree produced a tiny crop of fruits (first time) this year and I had the pleasure of trying one today - which was absolutely delicious thankfully! (very pineapple/orange/lemon/apricot like) 
I have tried many - and its always a mix bag with some being apricot like and having a decent flavor, while others taste like straight B.O. and Feet..... (don't ask me how I know what that tastes like). haha

 

Most of the recipes I see online call for nearly more sugar than juice! 

Has or does anyone routinely make jelly and if so, what's your recipe?

I've made jam from Pindo fruits and also from Queen fruits and both turned out basically the same - outstanding!  I have seen some recipes online but I actually used the recipe that came with the box of SureJell and substituted palm fruits for peaches in their recipe.  I didn't have a strainer so I just used a potato masher to minimize the fruit pieces and made jam instead of jelly.  Some fruits that are less fibrous separate from the seed easier than the more fibrous ones but removing the seeds is the fun part either way!
