I only have one bottle palm in my garden it’s the the lone surviving palm from many attempts at planting them in different locations around my garden with this one surviving it’s 20 years old is in dry part of my garden and has not had irrigation  a prized part of my collection because it has been so difficult to grow for some reason

Mine was planted about 23 years ago.  Gets a little water twice a week on a timed system for about 1/2 hr.  This picture is my best but t's from 2019

Nice Palm you’re a true gardener just yesterday I cleaned up a area pots laying around only to move them somewhere else to have the same pots laying around somewhere else it’s all about practicality most growers have a area designated area for the pots fertiliser and whatever else goes with growing you just have to look around at any growing operation but the results show in quality plants such as yours plus we just get busy and in time our gardens one day will look like a manicured botanical garden until then we need to grow and plant 🌱

When I moved to this area in 1997, there were many very old bottle palms in gardens around here, with trunks a couple of metres high. Sadly now there's only 2 or 3 left. Mine is growing okay although the 2 or 3 freakishly cold nights we had this winter singed the frond edges a fair bit.

I came. I saw. I purchased

27.35 south.

Warm subtropical, with occasional frosts.

Hi peachy to me the bottle palm is rare in my area I always thought that they were cold tender hence the bad luck I have had with them but there are two growing in Grafton just north of my property and they are growing very well and Grafton can get very cold temperatures even a black frost is known in the area but it is rare to get a black frost people remove palms not knowing the difference from a common to a very exotic palm that takes 15 to 20 years to grow there loss but not everyone likes palms just us palm nuts do

Those bottle palms here were old in 1997 and back then winter nights went into the minus 2 or 3 almost every night, so they are pretty tough in the cold. Frost fries the leaves but they grow back in time.  I noticed today that 3 gorgeous old spindle palms that I always admired have been cut down in the last few weeks and the house repainted grey. UGH

Maybe the dry conditions is my problem with trying to grow bottle palms I would have at least left the spindle palms in and painted the house a rainbow 🌈 colour
