Welp, I made another eBay sale and I got a check from the State of Texas for unclaimed money (haha! I finally got refunded part of my car insurance premium from a car crash in 2017) and I want to order some more stuff from Wellspring and ofc they're out of most of what I wanted. Anyway I was out running errands and got some 2x4s to build another bench and it was a lot cheaper than the big box. They cut them in the spot, I'm still sick so I'm not 100% sure they're all laser accurate but it'll work.

Anyway, pray that my heater keeps going through this weekend, wash your hands and mask up if you're gonna be around people.

Big honkin pot.

Aforementioned Big Honkin Pot full of hacked up crape myrtle branches. I just used the leftover dirt I had, I just want them to root and then they'll go into 1g grow bags for sales.

Threw the hacked up White Princess philo in a 1g and fertilized it.

Another dragonfruit (Bien Hoa Red) and a Red Lady papaya got bumped to 5g and fed and watered.

Well, this is a before picture. My tissue culture banana I bought off Palmstreet (that app ain't for me) took a detour and spent a few days in New Jersey for some reason. It's very dead. I broke my own rule about not buying plants in winter. I paid for the insulation and heat pack too..it didn't matter.

Oh. Potted up one of @Fuscadonated agave a while back. They were in mostly rock. It turns out plants are happier if you give them soil, light, and water. I guess I took the "well draining" thing too seriously with them.

I dunno why I didn't take a picture of this but I made a ghetto tent over the tote full of sunrise papaya seeds from @WaianaeCrider too. Got a few to sprout. I took an old curtain rod and just bent it and used the clear plastic that a pillow was shipped in. Using literal trash to grow tropicals. Gotta love it.

IMG_20260125_110245.jpg

And I cut down all of the elephant ears due to their size and their apparent deliciousness for the spider mites. They don't care. The only time they've been watered is when I planted them. They don't care. These are the ones from @N8ALLRIGHT

Other than the one in the corner, this is maybe 2 days of growth, 3 tops. They dgaf. They're like Bebe's Kids.

I didn't know you could propagate crape myrtles like that!  I always wondered why they were so cheap.  Does it matter what time of year to take the cuttings - is spring better than winter?

As long as you got a node you're good. Buddy I will send you the biggest freaking box of these things you want. Black willow too. These are hot pink, there's a white one on the property somewhere I just gotta find it. It didn't bloom this year since it was so dry. You want a priority mail box, I got you. You want a shipping crate, I got you. They sucker like crazy, too. And they seed like mad. And we have probably 30. They go dormant in the winter and ideally you want the soft green stuff before it hardens off, but these will root and grow too. I'll start more in the spring. Every yard here has these. My granny planted these (actually I planted a lot of them) in the 90s.

So after I potted up the one papaya, my Sabal Maratima didn't look so great, and I know I got the bugs off. Water them. Still dry. Then I remembered when @Sabal Kingsent them to me all I had was some garbage garden soil. I don't remember if he sent these to me last year or the year before? They were liners.

Welp. They're in 5g pots with some proper coir/perlite and I finally finished off the baggie of the stinky 🐔 💩 Jobes Palm fertilizer I bought 4 years ago. I had them in some 3 gallon pots I literally found in the woods. Watered 'em deep and letting them drain in the buckets.

I can't lose these. I've got an Urserena on life support, I bought those bunk Causiarum seeds that ain't Sabal seeds, but I think I got to these in time.

Soaking some Sabal seeds from Nate. The blue ones from Georgia.

Split a community pot of TxW Trachies. Got 10, most on their 2nd or 3rd leaf.

Papayas!

2 varieties sprouting plus I still have the nasty Wal Mart ones to split.

Gasketed the door. I need to silicon the absolute dog crap out of these windows. Cleaned off my table and gave myself an actual work area.

Did math. I can build another 8ish x 2ish table. With *checks notes* another $79 of totes I can hold 16 5 gallons and 16 one gallons in there. That leaves me enough room for a wire rack in the center for philodendrons and more freaking lights. Hang some pendants to fill space for more ornamental shit. Then I get to start planning for moving all of it outdoors... Build some shelves under the tables for the heat mats for seeds. Jesus.

And then I get to do it all over again next fall. Lol it'll be ok once I make a buck or 2 but right now I'm really not having fun but I'm balls deep into this.

Maaaaaaaaan

This last table is about to be janky AF. Pros of precut lumber - it's all the exact same size, it's straight, they use lasers. Every piece on the pallet is identical.

Cons - it woulda cost me like 8 bucks more. I mean, real talk, my whole angle right now is I'm doing this on such an embarrassingly slim budget so this does kinda track, but damn man. And I've broken so many drill bits I literally opened up the drill chuck for a wood screw to make my pilot holes. There will be no YouTube of this and I will pretend some local kids built it for me.

I can't believe my video from the other night titled "Snot and Lumber" got so many views but it did.

Yeah and I said I wasn't gonna mix that other batch of soil. I did.

Updates in addition to everything else

Soaking - Butia

Thawing - weevil infested palmetto (like 5 pounds of seeds from the giant inflourecense) and Sabal Minor from Bonita Lakes park

Germinating - needle palm, Bald Head Island, and Tallifero(sp?), Poblano Peppers, 2 varieties of kiwi.

More mangos (we've been getting Kent variety) - I think I figured out what was killing them off. I threw a bunch of moldy ones in the yard.

Also spend some time wiping everything down with neem oil. Need to hang more lights. Started sorting seedlings by variety instead of just cramming everything where it fit. Got more philodendrons to chop and prop. Trying to pamper the exotic papayas and get them through their super fragile state. Got a few philos that won't get cut because they're going to @Hollywood Palms as soon as it warms up.

Don't judge me for the hashtag and title. I did that just to see if it got me more views 😂

Burle Marx that I JUST potted up. Jesus, I don't know how big these things get but yikes.

More elephant ear pups aka spider mite food.

Red Lady papaya #2 into a 5g pot.

This leaf is 14"x35".

Oh. I forgot I chopped and propped these when I made the YouTube. 2 are spoken for. I guess the last one's for sale once it warms up. Orange/mandarin/fire flash/whatever spider plant. I'm sure it has a scientific Latin name but I'm dumb.

IMG_20260203_073039.thumb.jpg.869825986912e8050a17f35380b60656.jpg

I do not want to clean these seeds. They sat in my freezer for weeks. Then I thawed them and soaked them in peroxide and water and skimmed the dead and rotten ones off the top, the water turned black. I might just guerilla plant them around the property. I might just do a few community pots. These things smell like piss and vinegar. I don't particularly want to handle them and the demand for them isn't enough to justify my hands stinking for a couple hours.

Found this guy. Unofficial grow room mascot.
