Lol

I just sprayed everything with neem oil twice. And I sprayed the baseboards and the corners and around the pots, everything. And I bumped the humidity way up by filling up one of my new 27g totes with water and there's no place I can put it where the heater won't hit it, so it's a freaking sauna in there right now. And I have no idea how hot or how humid it is because my $6 meter 💩 the bed and died on me so I'm guessing it's pretty damn humid. Plants should love it but I'm def gonna have to dial that back a bit.

This palmetto is pushing a new frond after this MASSIVE strap leaf. I should be more like @kinzyjr and put dates and labels on these things instead of having to dig through this thread to figure out when I potted it. IMG_20251205_160027.thumb.jpg.a9a22a38336c2e8ac2a4b3bc8622c821.jpg

Honestly had no idea if these would even sprout, this was just a FAFO experiment. Large variety clementines from Peru I bought at a Mexican market.

I really hope it wasn't too premature of me to bring these all out here after yesterday's spider mite spray bombing. Dragonfruits Bien Hoa, Condor, and Laverne Red plus Red Lady papaya and a Mona Lisa banana. I think they'll all be a lot happier in this sweat lodge.

Poor little things died before they ever had a chance. Pour one out for this week's dead homies, a couple grocery store papayas and some mango seeds that rotted.

Big mama colocasia is pupping again and so are her pups - so onto this

This damn thing just doesn't want to be built and it's adamant about it. I literally need to buy a new set of drill bits because I've broken all of the small ones. I really miss the good old days when Craftsman was sold by Sears and you could go in there with like, a wrench that has been floating in the ocean for 11 years and on the spot they'd give you a replacement. Anyway that still wouldn't matter because these came from Harbor Freight and they're probably made out of glitter and yak farts. IMG_20251205_163419.thumb.jpg.af27289d4c11bac3ea90a0568c08054c.jpg

At least I wrote SP in sharpie on the cup so I'd remember it was a palmetto. I mean, between the mistings and the light and the clear cup, it's pretty faded but it was still legible.

Now it's ready for soil, bulbs and cuttings.

IMG_20251206_132917.thumb.jpg.11997c4641de515f13eac122e6c25416.jpg

This one should be easier. Just clean it up and lay out heat mats and hang a light.

IMG_20251206_132942.thumb.jpg.060c24fefd774d22b1f5a57c44b85efc.jpg

Then I have this corner to clear out and build up.

Still need to adjust a few lights, refractor experiments, but right now I just want to eat something and take a shower. I figured out why my mango seeds kept rotting so we're good there and I'm learning to like the smell of this neem. IMG_20251206_133017.thumb.jpg.b299608d89a0a93e7365f87a9c854c65.jpg

Baby Mango, 10 baby palmettos (from the tree I swung a shop light at from the ground) and 5 more Silver Saws from @Boca PalmsIMG_20251208_084435.thumb.jpg.ea4ac36efb0382687a427d3d4a0a797f.jpgIMG_20251208_125533.thumb.jpg.2de77cb7dd90f90991e69d554e808415.jpg

Still waiting on one batch of minors, still need to clean and germinate 2 more batches of minors, and then pull the weevil infested palmetto seeds out of the freezer. Also have 2 varieties of kiwi marinating, uhh like a dozen more mangos, God only knows how many white guava seeds, more clementines, God only knows how many more papaya seeds, still need to cut holes in the totes for the 15 pounds of bulbs, still need to split up community pots, I think I killed most of the Sabal Etonia that @kinzyjr sent me, 2 pineapple crowns rooting, I want to root propagate more of the pink guava, banana and more papaya seeds are somewhere in the mail, I'm pretty sure what's left of my mom's Ficus Elastica is toast but this thing has come back from the dead twice before, uhhhh - split up the ti plants as soon as they don't look dead, eat more mangos, grow stuff.

@JohnAndSancho I've tried to figure out how the profit happens, but haven't seen it materialize yet. LOL

You gotta collect the underpants. Just like the old South Park episode. Nobody knows what step 2 is. But step 3 is profit.

And this morning I got a visit from the MS Dept of Agriculture, and all is well. Plus he got to meet Sancho. He said he wondered about the name of the nursery, but it makes sense now. Next up is grant applications.

Gonna throw these pics on here too since this is my all-encompassing plant thread.

Tfw duct tape won't stick to brick but you realize there's like 93 sets of curtain rods in your house for some reason. Anyway. IMG_20251212_133836.thumb.jpg.3442bf409e35701a8bead08900858806.jpgIMG_20251212_133852.thumb.jpg.33320937f2f9bb83d377d2c9ca64fa00.jpg

Today I started soaking some Sungold Kiwi seeds (delicious! I should have fruit by the time I'm 60), another mango, pulled out a crap ton of native Sabal Minor seeds and put them in cups, refilled all my water bins, and that was enough for me today. Still have soooo much to do.

Baby mango. Now that I've figured out how to handle them, this should be the start of many more.

The wifi at the house is horrible, so these are already out of date lol. Anyway youtube.com/dbljzzl

I'm going to finish my refractors and shower curtain ghetto tent and carve up the tote bulb factory this week, and try to get the rest of the bananas in buckets. I found another plastic tote that fits perfectly in the corner and holds a 5g bucket and a kitty litter bucket so EVERY banana (....so far) can get space.

A friend of mine sent me an invite link to PalmStreet and a live show - a bit fast for my taste, it's kinda like plant tiktok on cocaine - but I got some tissue culture bananas with winter shipping for a total of $16 so I can't be too mad. I've never played with tissue culture before so it'll be interesting.

New frond opening on the Red Latan, finally. Which is nice because I had to cut all the other ones off.

WALL OF BANANAS. ALL CAPS BECAUSE I'M PRETTY DAMN PROUD OF THIS AND MY GHETTO LIGHT HACKS AND THE FERTILIZER ARE ONLY GOING TO MAKE THEM BIGGER. WALL OF BANANAS.

Mat of mangos. Not nearly as exciting and I think one of them is dead, but I will keep eating them and keep planting the seeds as long as I can get them for $1 each. Or get the good Kietts from the Guatemalan market in Waynesboro.

It's time to buy more coir and perlite. I think my mix comes out to 3 bricks of coir to 4 cu ft of perlite and I'm not doing math right now. 5 gallons of water per brick, whatever.

Heater is working. I guess one of the fans was magically bouncing into something that was just enough to blow the pilot light out, so I've got yellow tote lids scattered around the room and it's working. We hit 19 degrees twice and it didn't drop below 75 in here.
