4”x4”x10” Band to a 1 Gal, 3 Gal or 5 Gal?

What is the next best pot size to UP SIZE from a 4”x4”x10” Band?

Should I go from the Band into a 1 Gal, 3 Gal or 5 Gal Pot?

Thoughts, suggestions and reasonable advice appreciated.

To me it is completely species dependent. Some palms are very easy to grow and fast and would appreciate a big jump to a 5 gal. Other very slow growers only to a tall 1 gallon.  You can often go by the current size of the palm currently in the band, but species research is your friend.

Zone 10a at best after 2007 AND 2013, on SW facing hill, 1 1/2 miles from coast in Oceanside, CA. 30-98 degrees, and 45-80deg. about 95% of the time.

I do some experiments and learning in my garden with palms so you don't have to experience the pain! Look at my old threads to find various observations and tips!

Have the roots reached 10" depth? Are the still flexible? If yes AND yes then a one-gal is likely OK. It will be easier to manage over the winter.

I agree with this 100% Also depending on your level of care. Patric can grow his hybrids to massive size in the smallest pots. Floribunda is also extremely skilled at this practice. Myself I kill them in a heartbeat haha It's easier for me in larger pots cause of my watering system.
