The wife and I headed for Geyserville to celebrate our anniversary last Thursday. We were going to spend the first night with family in Walnut Creek. We arrived 2 hours early, so Carol asked if I there was anything I wanted to do before dinner when we were expected.

I called information and decided to look up our own PalmGuyWC. The operator gave me 2 phone numbers, and I got the right guy the first time. Dick graciously said to come on over. My sister-in-law was also curious and joined us.

Dick's garden has been covered at length on the IPS forum. I so enjoyed walking around asking him questions and letting him show off his collection I didn't take many photos.

Here's his Jubaea of the strictor type.

I took this photo because it's a Parajubaea cross... now I can't remember with what! Jubaea?

This Nannorhops is the largest on the west coast. I'd love to see a photo of a bigger one from the east coast.

Here's the Saturday morning view from our room at The Geyserville Inn. That's Geyser Peak, info for geeks like me who insist on knowing mountain names. The winery was named after it.

You are now looking at a 112 year old zinfandel vine. Photo taken at Ridge Lytton-Springs Winery, and I bought a bottle made from these vines. Excellent...

Dry Creek's winery was covered with a flowering vine of some kind. Here's a closeup.

A number of leaves were turning and starting to fall off. This one landed in the same vines as the last photo.

I was up there this weekend too Terry. Went to Santa Rosa for a wedding. Wanted to go to the Lakeside Palmetum in Oakland but Fridays weather changed that.  How was your drive home if you drove?  Normally a 8 hr drive turned into 10 because of the tunnel crash.  It was cool though went the 101 and saw some cool palms in Ventura. Very cool looking Parajubea cross.

As you might imagine, we didn't watch the news at all. (wink, wink, nudge, nudge, say no more)

I first became aware of a problem with I-5 approaching the grapevine on Sunday afternoon. They had a big flashing sign. We took 138 through Palmdale/Lancaster and caught I-15 home. I'm sure it added 2 hours to the drive. The palms in that area are washies, CIDPs and more washies. Same mix as Sonoma. I saw 1 Butia in a yard, but didn't stop to take a photo because I want to be married a few more years.
