This palm was 4' tall when it was planted in 2017; December 24, 2022 it went to -2 degrees in Saluda, NC.   These are the new fronds as of July 2023IMG_1898.thumb.JPG.dd4a67cc3afe096b3d59a89dc253b24f.JPG Picture below shows spear starting to emerge in Spring after head had been drenched with fungicide once the dead fronds were removedIMG_1628.thumb.JPG.004426ef15a6c10c1219648e63f3cc84.JPG

Glad too see one that far in west hills of NC. Will you protect it this year? They are saying it will be colder than last year, but who knows.

Gee, I hope it's not colder. But we do get a back-to-back pair when they come.

I see you put some lights on it . Did you cover with a blanket to keep the heat in ? I think those are C9 lights that get awfully hot if covered , and can burn through a blanket .

I cooked a palm with C9 lights but they  were  heavily covered and it got really hot under my protection . I didn't even need to protect it because the Low here that year was only 16F .

I use incandescent C7 lights from 1000 bulbs . I need to buy some more because the government might one day outlaw incandescent C7 Christmas lights ?

Glad to see it's looking good .

Will
