Keeping a large Sylvester Palm warm in zone 8

I have a large Sylvester Palm (7ft trunk and 14 ft overall height).  While it's really hot now, I want to start preparing for winter.  I live in zone 8a.   I'm thinking of using a thermostat electric outlet set to 35, and then heat tape or heat coils, and also wrap the truck with C9 Christmas lights. The heart of the palm is protected by huge thorns, so that's really hard to get to.   How can I keep this Sylvester warm.  Looking for ideas from the pros
