I bought some, but never used them.  Five 5-gallons and two 12-gallons, free to anyone, no shipping, I paid $145.

Haven't tried these ..Thx to Miamacuse's post, Gonna have to see if our local HD or Lowes is stocking them now..   Have used Rootmaker - brand name pots ..A different design of  an " air " pot w/ good success.

Not tested w/ palms though. Not yet anyway..   General " Idea " surrounding these kinds of containers makes a lot of sense, and may lessen any potential " plants suffocating in bad soil "  issues since the pots allow plenty of Oxygen exchange at the root system level. . Wish i had a bunch more.

Nathan, these pots are used extensively by Kew Gardens.  The only negative observation I have heard is that the medium dries out more quickly.  (not a problem for England ! )

When I said "no shipping" it was because I received a very high quote to send them to Florida.  Anyone who wishes to pay the shipping cost is welcome to them for just the shipping cost.  :winkie:

No worries and appreciate the "hint", haha.... I need to find one -for now- to try w/ my soil mix / see how the test subject responds under our conditions before i really dive in. Since i use a lot of grit in my mixes, not sure if that material will stay in those pots. No issue in the root makers though..

** This is something i notice also, esp here, but, certain stuff like a Bursera microphylla  i've had growing in one for a few years seems very happy. Just keeps getting taller / trunk thicker ..and i have no issues if it gets soaked in winter.  Nice that the pots are extremely durable as well.  Another plant i tried in a root maker, Randia aculeata, which likes more water, has also done well though i need to repot it since the organics in that mix have broken down and the plant isn't thrilled about having less soil to grow in atm..

Though i'm sure they'd be expensive, my only wish is the company that makes root makers would add 15, and/or 25gal sizes to their product line.. Bet they'd be a hit w anyone growing moisture sensitive succulents ( Adenium / Pachypodium, etc ) or Bonsai-esque specimen plants in containers long term.

Bursera microphylla ssp. microphylla.. Grown well in the R.M. ( Think these are 3 ..or 5? gal equiv. )  but at the point where it is about time to get stepped up ...or donated  ~after~ i get some cuttings rooted :D
