Do you have a photo of the parent(s)? I’d have a hard time justifying yet another another Dypsis / Chrisalidocarpua purchase to my husband (since I own most of them now)... but the photos of palms by this name look pretty stunning.

The quick link to the nursery has been hacked.

Hmmm, that photo sure looks like a Chrysalidocarpus (Dypsis) lastenella to me. Which is a gorgeous palm, but iffy here in California (based on what I read). Are you sure that's the parent?

The palm I'm seeing listed under the name Dypsis mijoroana has less of a "banded" trunk. Here's what I was picturing when I saw the "mijoroana" name in your ad...

The above photo was taken from the following Palmtalk page, where they were discussing the similarities between mijoroana, lastenella & nauseosa. If your plant is likely to look like the above photo I would be REALLY tempted to buy it, but it looks to me as if your plant favors the "lastenella" cosmetics (which again is lovely, but similar to the leptocheilos palm, which I already have a lot of).

Dypsis / Chrysalidocarpus has SOOOO many mysteries!

Hey Stacey, I'm sure Jerry can give better info than I can since this is his plant for sale and parent plant, but thought I'd give a little Big Island info as well.  The palm you posted is what we have here in Hawaii as Nauseosa.  It's a beautiful palm and has some similarities to Lastelliana and Leptocheillos, but is still something different.  I'm not sure that it is the "real nauseosa" or not, but that's what I have them as here and have seen in other gardens.

Mijoroana is a very special plant and the best I can compare it to is a plumose leafed Lastelliana type Dypsis.  There are only 3-4 gardens here on the Big Island that have Mijoroana and Jerry's was the first to set seed.  So this is really the first opportunity for anyone to be able to get ahold of this palm.

As far as it growing well in So Cal, I'm not sure how it will do there.  If it grows like Lastelliana, then it would be a tough grow.  But who knows?

If you want that plant that you posted from Palmpedia, I would recommend checking with Josh O, maybe he has some Nauseosa?

Does anyone know how this would grow in SWFla? I like the look of it, but some of the dypsis have not worked for me. Others are very slow starting out.

Here is a video of Floribunda's Chrysiladocarpus mijoroanus from 2016. Sorry for the poor audio of Jeff Marcus' commentary. The irrigation pond is adjacent and had an aeration fountain running. It was one of my favorite palms that I saw and had no knowledge of.
