Best Quality Fertilizer for Palms

Featured Replies

With so many fertilizer brands on the market it's not easy to pick the right one.  For now I'm using a Big Box Store brand ( Miracle-Gro) .

What brand is the Mercedes under all fertilizer?

I vote Palm Gain

I've had great results with Pennington Palm and Hibiscus (9-4-9) but I think it's been discontinued. Been having a hard time finding it

Still on the search unfortunately

For controlled release, the best is Florikan.

Lesco has two possible fertilizers, 510268 (8-2-12 50lb for $57.91) and 511414 (13-3-13 50lb for $30.29).  These are from Site One landscaping.  I found the label for 510268 and it looks pretty good:

TOTAL NITROGEN (N)*.......................................................8.00%
0.79% Ammoniacal Nitrogen
7.21% Urea Nitrogen
AVAILABLE PHOSPHATE (P2O5**.......................................2.00%
SOLUBLE POTASH (K2O)***..............................................12.00%
MAGNESIUM (Mg) ...............................................................4.00%
3.06% Water Soluble Magnesium (Mg)
SULFUR (S) ..........................................................................9.26%
9.26% Combined Sulfur (S)
BORON (B)..................................................................... 0.15%
0.15% Water Soluble Boron
COPPER (Cu) ............................................................. .......0.05%
0.05% Water Soluble Copper (Cu)
IRON (Fe) .............................................................................0.15%
0.15% Chelated Iron (Fe)
MANGANESE (Mn) ..............................................................2.00%
2.00% Water Soluble Manganese (Mn)
ZINC (Zn) ........................................................... ..................0.15%
0.15% Water Soluble Zinc (Zn)

This is all polymer coated for slow release, and about half the price of PalmGain.  I haven't found a label for the cheaper 511414 yet...

I used to use Palm Gain, but I've recently switched to the cheap Sunniland fertilizer from Lowes, and supplement with liquid micronutrients.

I use Palmgain.

Why the switch I have both of those ?

With so many different varieties of fertilizer I guess it comes down to the right ratio in the area where the palm is planted.  Ph level , soil type ect.

Merlyn's suggestion looks good. Micros as well if you're in sandy soil.
