Nice!  That's more than I've seen in 3 months.

Welp my skepticism was wrong. We've had about an inch and a half and it's still storming.

its so dry and with the water restrictions my palms are prematurely dropping leaves and holding smaller crowns.  I was several bismarckia turning bronze along the I75, on the way to defoliation.  Untill this year, they looked very nice without any irrigation.

0.24" this morning. A light rain but a soaking rain. Need more like that.

There's about 0.75"-1" in the forecast for the next 7 days. Pattern favors chances for at least scattered showers and storms over the coming weeks in the Panhandle.

It "rained" here today. Enough to dampen the street and lawn but not enough to reach the soil.

My gauges recorded between 0.10 to 0.20 inches of rain in various parts of the yard.  Not the gully-washer we could use, but better than nothing.

As expected, central areas are trending down with expected totals.  The SE coast meanwhile, shows an uptick.  Translated:  More of the same.  I expect less than a quarter inch when all said and done while Dade and Broward will again need canoes to maneuver through traffic.  The emoji I'm searching for is of course inappropriate and unavailable.

We shall see.  Maybe it will be the usual where it mostly waters the ocean.  Whenever they call for heavy rain, we get nothing much.  The real storm will hit when there is a high degree of confidence in only a light misting.

worsening

From the NWS Tampa Bay discussion

"During the weekend, a couple of shortwaves will rotate through the southeastern US, dragging the frontal boundary through the Florida Peninsula. Moisture will pool ahead of the front, with PWAT values forecast to approach 2 inches, allowing for numerous showers and storms to spread south through the forecast area Saturday and Saturday night, then gradually clear out from north to south by Sunday evening as drier air fills in behind the front. QPFs for the entire event have been trending lower through the last couple of forecast cycles, but 5 day QPFs are still in the 0.75-1.50 inches, which should bring a small amount of relief from the ongoing drought."

Brevard County, Fl

My garden received a light rain totaling ~0.20in over 2 days.  Some is better than none, but we could sure use a good rainy season to get everything in recovery mode and fill up the wetlands.

Been praying for a bit of substantial rain from this past weekend's front. Got a shade over 0.12" over two days. "Pathetic" was not the adjective I was hoping for.

Saturday evening I spent over an hour hand watering my parched newly planted/potted palms and Dyckias in a test of Murphy's Law. The gambit didn't work but at least I tried.

Basically, unless we get 3 feet of rain, we're screwed.

The rain measurements in the yard thus far are between 1.5" and 1.75" for the month.  Usually, the second half of the month brings the bulk of the rain, but only time will tell if that holds true this year.

We had a good rain last night. Closest weather station is sarasota which reported 0.39 inch. I think its safe to say we had at least double that as we had standing water in the yard for a couple hours. We had about half that much rain 3 days ago. The dew points are up 3-4 degrees over the last week and the lower wind velocity and higher humidity seems to be less stressful for my drought baked satakentia, archies, and C. Leptocheilos. I look forward to the coming rains later in the week. I have some a couple pinanga coronata coming in the mail that I hope get a bunch of rain in what appears to be the start of the wet season. Heres to hoping the drought is soon over!

We finally received another decent rain overnight (~1in) and then a short shot of ~0.10 today. Hoping this rainy season is more consistently wet.

Looks hopeful but I'm not buying. The expected impact and totals will decrease as the week progresses. In the end, I'll get about a quarter inch of rain.

rained again last night an hour before sunset and another burst after sunset too. I'd guess half an inch. Dew point at 73F and humidity in the air today at sunrise 94% RH. I dont care for this sticky weather but most of my palms are loving it.

Rained a ton here last night. Im at 5 inches for may so far

Standing at 8.49" for the month of May to date. With moderate to high rain chances to close out the month, this number should go up at least a little.

Had another rain burst that(barely) woke me up last night at 2-3 am. Metal roof in the rain sounds like a stream nearby. The un irrigated grass areas around the retention ponds has replace bare ground and brown grass, a good sign. The ponds are still obviously 2 foot low from a normal summer position.
