I have struggled in my many methods of attempting to germinate Pindo palm seeds. I have not gotten a single seed to grow. I have tried heat mats and everything. My next attempt will involve cold stratisfying the seed. Has anyone had any luck germinating these things? And if so what were your steps.

Favorite palms: Pindo/Jubaea/Mule variants, Large Sabals Climate: High humidity subtropical Lowest seen: 16F throughout the day Soil type: Heavy red southeastern clay

I usually soak the seeds in water for 48hrs and place them in a community pot; when outdoor temperatures are above 90F.

I've had limited success myself but had pretty good results cracking the hard shell SLOWLY in a vise and removing the individual embryos.  There can be as many as 4 inside one seed.  Because of our mild winters and hot summers I would put the embryos in the refrigerator for 3-4 weeks and then put in a community pot outdoors in the shade.  Fruits mature here typically in July/August so supplemental bottom heat isn't necessary.
