It's blooming from foliage at ground level. (shot from above; inflorescence out-of-focus) Does this mean it's the non-trunking type, or might it still develop a trunk?

    From what I understand it's the non-trunking type if inflorescence forms at the base.  I can't tell from the picture if it's male or female.

    I'll get a clear photo when the flower develops a little more. Thanks for your response. That answers my question about its location.  I don't really have use for a ground-cover palm, especially where I put this one - it's invisible unless you walk into the bed and find it.

    My largest non-trunking type is almost 4' tall overall height and it's a female.  Almost 4 years from seed.  I have a couple dozen other seedlings around it that haven't flowered yet so still unsure about the type but certainly at least a few males and females in the mix.
