How long before you can see difference after fertilizing?

Fertilized most of my palms with Palmtone (Organic). Also liquid fed some with a mix of kelp/seaweed and fish emulsion.

Seems like the Bismarck is darker color, after a liquid feed a few days ago, but could be "placebo"

My Kentia also opened up a frond 2 days after giving it the liquid feed, but could be a coincidence.

How often does it usually take to see an effect once a palm is fertilized?

Second question is should I be worried about Pottasium toxicity using too much fertilizers with high potassium and phosphorus. I got a 0-10-10 fish liquid I was thinking to blend with some 5-1-1 fish emulsion to feed more of my palms.

Hi @Palmfarmer.

It's gonna take a while. 3 months usually to see the benefits especially at this time of year.

Its full on spring down here allready. So heat is not an issue. Ok so 3 months for the palmgain to properly work? But the liquids should be pretty much instant?

Yeah. It's still pretty chilly over there.

It's a waiting game.

Here is the forecast that is more accurate for my area. Daytime temps are medium-high while nighttime is medium for the area. In a month or so the temperatures will be pretty much pinned at 32/15. Rarely gets above 15c at night here.

Solid zone 9, I can expect at least one night in the mid to low twenties every year.

Hot, dry summers. Cold, wet winters.

Yeah. What fertlizers do you use? I just put out palmtone on most of my palms. Its sort of expensive since i need 10lbs for all my palms for one feed.

Simplot Palm Plus, but I also put out some sul-po-mag stuff, too. I forget the name. Look up my heliconia thread in the non-palm section and we have a little discussion on that. Some mineral. The name escapes me.

I like the palm special, also by Simplot, but its a 6 month application, not 3. It has more po-mag, but I think the (my) palms need more of it, more often...

10 lbs, not bad. I'm generous. Probably 25 lbs for me at a time... I buy the 50 lb bags. Its the only way to go.

It's a little hard to tell from that picture because the color balance is different.  The steps and siding, for example, are yellowish in the top photo and bluish in the bottom one.

They did get greener and put more growth out faster and thicken up because I didn’t fertilize them until around that time frame and it was early 7 am the lighting was behind the tree line

I let them sit in there pots for about a month before I fertilized and this was directly after repotting but idk

In my zone results from fertilizing a palm like Jubaea takes several months to half a year.  Growth in palms is mostly a result from rainfall.  Fertilizing in fall and and early winter does little help because it just runs off.  Late spring fertilizing does little to nothing to help the palms because when warm and dry season comes growth slows down significantly as the palms flower and drop their lower leaves.  Best time to fertilize is Mid to early spring when weather warms and sunlight increases each day.   Not to much different from any other plant.

Is it organic? My washies and queens are starting to pick up speed finally and I noticed something weird. My Bismarckia seems more dark blue than ever. (That one was fertilized by a liquid mix of kelp and fish emulsion so it has obviously taken up the goodies by this time.

Sadly it's not organic, I do worry about salt build up in the soil if I use it on inground plants. I really want to try liquid kelp soooo badddd
