Thankfully this will only last 2 days.  The needle palm box has 150 mini lights running 24 hrs and one set of c9 (25) hook on a thermocube.

2nd picture is Saturday morning inside the box...the sensor is at the bottom left corner far from the bulbs 🤞🤞🤞

3rd is Friday at noon and the temperature continued dropping throughout the day.🥶🥶

That sucks. I heard this was going to be the coldest in a generation for the NE US. The Needles look comfy though!

It wasn’t (well maybe if you count wind chill) , but close. 2014 I saw -25F with no wind. I lived up that way most of my life, granted only about 20 years in far northern New England. This was a brief cold snap. 2014 I saw almost a month where it hardly budged above 0F. Brutal.

This was Mt. Washington during that snap , 100+ mph winds. 🥶913F7804-A891-449B-9C17-F6DC95A4C6E1.thumb.jpeg.470599e7279f97433753747f6d4f4deb.jpeg

Thankfully winters in the lower midwest have been getting much milder. I do remember our all time record low in 1994 at -29F air temp. And, going back into the 80s, we had snow on the ground from Christmas til Valentines Day. Now we seem to get glancing blows of arctic air and rarely snow lasting more than a week on the ground.

Dropped to -6 here in Yarmouth, ma z7a… coldest night in 20 years. I had them all covered in burlap and plastic, I’m hopefully that larger trachy will make it. Needle and minor should be fine
