Iam growing from seed the Triangle palm. These palms are 5 yrs old in pots ,full sun. The palms have very green leaves. I would like to know if the Triangle palms has two color forms or will blue up when it gets older?

My young triangle is quite blue.

Blueness of leaves (glaucousness due to wax deposits on the leaf surface) is highly variable in palms and other plants.  Think of silver saw palmettos and Bismarckias.

My guess is that yours will remain green.   Someone who's actually had experience growing triangles from seed may know better, though.

I think more sun = more blue.

They blue up. I saw the ones at Rancho Soledad Nursery and they almost look like Teddy Bears in color and dark greenness of the leaves.  I thought that would be a cool plant, but figured it would blue up with time. I have been to nurseries where they have 3 gallon and up, the bigger the pot, the bluer the plant from what I have seen. I have a teddy/Triangle cross that I am hoping blues up a bit as it ages.

To answer your question, there are two forms. A naturally clumping and non-clumping form. :)

There's a clumper?  Cool.  I've never seen that.

I never knew either until I saw one. When you looked close, you could see the difference between 5 seeded plants clumped and one plant with 5 suckers.

My seed grown D.decaryi were very dark green for about the first four years. They are now very grey. These were planted out in their current location as very small seedlings.

seems to me the gray, depends on sun, and planted in the ground tend to be a bit grayer. in my opinion.

never heard of a clumper, heard of one that always has a yellow hue to it, but never a clumper

these get a lot of water!, these also came from a field that had been burned several times. you can still see some of the evidence on the lower portions of the trunk

this is the big one by my kitchen door, it gets harsh high noon and after sun! it sits in a very hot spot.

it carries the most gray of all the triangle palms I have!\the most fuzz too.

The glaucous leaves come with age, and in general the more sun, the greyer the leaf. Here in Queensland, whre the sunlight is the strongest in the world, I have seen some specimens of Dypsis decaryi that are as silver as a Bismarkia nobilis. The specimens I am talking about are growing in quite harsh conditions in a car park in the CBD here in Mackay.
