Areca Catechu seems more cold tolerant than I thought

We have been down to 9⁰C and a bit lower these nights, and my A. Catechu is completely undamaged and pushing a new leaf. Same thing with my panama tall cocos nucifera.

I believe that palm should take 9 C easily without damage. I've had mine in pots outside slightly lower than that without any damage. Established in the ground and not too exposed you should be good down to 2 C per the "Freeze Damage Data" file. Personally I wouldn't worry about a potted catechu unless it was supposed to get down below 5 C. Good info in the database that @kinzyjrhas assembled with info from the board and other sources. Prolonged periods down there at 9 deg might be another story though.

My Areca catechu dwarf has been in the low 40s F and looks fine also pushing a new spear!!
