Haven't felt a jolt in months - the Long Valley Caldera near Mammoth, and the San Andreas constantly shake but anything smaller than a 5 usually goes unnoticed.

Likewise, I felt no shake, rattle or roll here in Sacramento. I usually don't. The last quake I felt was centered in the Reno area and I was in downtown Sacto in a three-story building at the time.

I can't remember but thinking the Loma Prieta Quake was felt in parts of the Central Valley..  Other than the bigger events, not as common to feel a majority of the quakes in the valley that occur along the San Andreas, north of say Coalinga anyway..

Agree that -for the most part- rarely feel anything below a 4.5.  Then again, after Loma Prieta, a 4- 4.5 will catch your attention if sharp enough / goes on long enough..

Long Valley is an interesting hot spot because larger quakes there ( ..and in the Gulf / near the Salton Sea ) have been felt here in the past..

Long Valley is interesting too because i could see the area generate a quake exceeding 8..  Have seen a few studies implying the possibility of the San Andreas essentially "moving east" to a position over that area in tens of thousands of years.  ...In the same realm w/ the " continued opening of the northern Gulf of CA." theory.
