Can you tell me what happened when you tried to change. Error message? Nothing? And if your account was locked, how did you manage to post this?

This is what the logs say - contact me privately if you still need help.

When I look at my profile, I don't see any box for email address. I get tons of email from PT and IPS, so they certainly have my address, I just don't see it anywhere on my profile. I had no trouble opening PT tonight. So everything seems to be working fine right now. Photo of my monster Metroxylon uploaded easily.

Thanks for all the great work keeping PT running so smoothly. Very much appreciated.

Rick

Thanks to everyone for the feedback. And to answer Rick and others:

In with your Profile and other Profile "things" is Account Settings. Email can be changed from there now. But if you are getting notifications, your email is current and correct. Just remember which of your emails (if you have several) you use for PT. I have confirmed that a future upgrade will be email only for log in. For now, I am told either email or UserName should work.

Yup. Super annoying. Hopefully it’s just for a couple more days. 😥

Everything is working great but agree that the warning every time you click on a new topic is annoying.

@Rick Kelley It took me some time to find the email location.  Find "account settings" and it will list email, password, etc.  IF you click on "change email" and don't, it wants to highlight that entry and tells you that you didn't make a change.  I don't want to change my email.  I backed out of the forum and started over and I didn't get reminded of NOT MAKING A CHANGE.  Thank You DEAN for all the effort you put into this forum.

Thanks for posting a photo of your favorite palm!  Or is your left palm your favorite?  🤣

So far so good.  I was able to login with my email only yesterday but using my username worked today.  For those of is who edit our posts it can still be done by clicking on the 3 dots in the upper right corner of the post (at least that's the case from a mobile device).

Yes,  my email was current and correct.  I can't move around on Palmtalk without the 'Warning' appearing with every left click of the mouse.  This is a minor annoyance, having to click off the X in the upper right corner of the Warning box twenty times in a row.  If we have complied with the Warning instructions then how do we turn off the Warning ?    Thanks, Dean.

Sorry everyone. Wish I knew before I went to bed. An example of what can go wrong if one box out of 100+ is checked wrong. Hopefully it will stay closed now if you hit the "x" - maybe returning next day - but again supposed to stay closed for another 24 hours.

So with this update, we can post bigger images? Also, is the size restriction still the same for profile pictures?

Reputations have undergone a drastic change, based on many different factors now. But it will not be tabulated and expressed until a huge amount of data is rebuilt - posts, topics, reactions, etc. for the last 15 years. I don't know yet what it is going to end up looking like.

Sorry, I do not know the answer to that question. And it is going to take me a while to figure it out once I get time to examine the settings etc.

Any info (problems) people have when uploading will be appreciated. That is one of the most complicated things these days - with the number of different cameras and phones putting out pics in countless formats, sizes, and resolutions. And resizing them is very server intensive.

If you are talking about the small pics in your post - it looks like size restriction is still around 60Kb I think. But I did see an option now to make them square again - like they used to be years ago. So they look a little bigger. :)

I'll help out by uploading some test image files (of known file size), to see what the limits are.

First, here's a 10MB Image, which I assume will be rejected...

10mb.jpg

** UPDATE: It appears to have accepted a 10MB Image - wow!
That will make some of the people uploading large images happy, though I'm not sure if it would cause an issue with server load. Maybe fine for once in a while, though best to upload smaller images if possible.

Ok, let's try a 20MB Image for fun (again, not recommended to make this a habit, due to server load)...

** UPDATE: The 20MB upload got an error message. Which means that there is likely a limit to upload size that's somewhere between 10 & 20MB. That should be plenty big for the vast majority of people.

----

In summary, if someone has trouble uploading an image have them check file size...

- If the image is under 10MB, then file size is NOT the problem (it's some other technical issue)

- If the image is larger than 10MB, suggest they reduce file size of the image at this URL (or similar): https://imagecompressor.com/

Hope that helps!

I’m having an issue every time I try and log in on my phone. On a computer everything is fine.

When I log in I get the following error message. If I click IPS logo on the top of the screen when this error pops up it will take me into forum and I will be signed in.
