For a desert dweller, the extra lushiness(I made that up) of green, is a special treat. 

Admittedly, it might look funky growing back from a defoliation event.  But with a full head, it looks thick and lush!

For zone 8, that's a winner!

These Dallas zone 8a,  palms experienced a low of 12F a few weeks previous to the March image. The second image is 8 months later in the same growing season

The Brahea Armata really makes a great appearance. Such a beautiful palm.

Quite interesting as our 2 nights of 4f did about 50-60% leaf loss on my green med palm.  

What I notice different is the daytime highs between ALB/DFW during the events. Probably even more noticeable to a palm sitting in the sun . Both events appeared dry according to weather records, with both cities having rain the week prior.

Nice sabals downtown in front of Te Deseo restaurant on intersection of N Field St and Caroline St.

Seedling planted Sabal mexicana in Dallas full of its iconic large seeds. 
A few years ago a derecho wind burst  of up to 90 mph knocked many large trees down in this area and at the nearby arboretum. The soil was very wet from previous storms and the trees just toppled over. This palm was righted and supported and is fine today. Not such good luck for the 70 year old oak tree downed at the arboretum.
