Nice Sabals off the corner of meadow road and regal oaks drive in Richardson. From aerial view it looks like there's also 3 more in the enclosed area by the pool. Looks like two died after 2021. 

The 3rd pic is a few streets away. Notice the volunteer growing through the cracks of the fence

Hard to see, but anyone have any guesses as to what kind of palm this is? Looks to me like it could be some sort of Jubaea, however I'm not sure.

Sadly no street view, but From the aerial view I'm counting more than a dozen sabals in this north Dallas yard. They look big too based on the shadows

This is what they look after last winter’s 12F low. The dead trees were killed in 2021 when we reached a low of 3F and had 9 consecutive days below freezing.

They look good for 12f! That is right about the defoliation temperature for mine.

They look pretty good! Thanks for posting these, I haven't been by there since early February and have been anxious to see how these fared

These 2 dead ones here actually survived 2021, and it was the January 2024 freeze that took them out. The middle one started to decline after the December 2022 freeze and only had a tiny crown heading into Jan 2024. The one on right looked good however - guess it was just a weak specimen

I’m new on here( 4-6-25 ) and I have to just say “OMG so Beautiful!!” are they all still alive? I want to add some palms to my yard. I am in Ft Worth and lost a 20 foot palm in the ice storm a few years ago. I think it was a Mexican Fan palm. I am researching what to get next. 

Dead now, but apparently there was a wild CIDP growing on 75 near SMU! First showed up in early 2017 and lasted until feb 2021.

This kinda makes me want to post my Ensete next to my Fortunei, but they're both just a little bit smaller.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe they dropped about 2 degrees but still 8b.

Check out the size difference over 6 years in Dallas during   4 consecutive extreme cold winters. The giant Chamaerhops Humilis was taken to the ground each year. The Brahea armata doubled in size.

The previous 2 decades we had zone  8b winters. 

Was walking past BJ’s restaurant in Addison off belt like and there are literally 1000 volunteer palms which are more likely to be Sabals given how many are nearby but also look like washies. They keep getting mowed over but continue to come back. Half the grass is just strap leaf palms in parts

Hundreds of palms native to Dallas county ( Sabal minor) are planted here. They all survived the very cold winter of 2021.

Previous 20 years zone 8b.  Recent past 4 winters dine 8a or colder.

It's an interesting looking palm that's for sure. Something I haven't seen in person so it does have to grow on me in order to love it. But I'm getting there . Looks like the fronds never got ouf seedling stage.
