I have a Sabsal palm tree that survived the Texas winter storm of 2021and came back with fresh fonds . However this year it is covered a lot in white scales. I have sprayed with Neem oil and treated with systemic pesticide but no luck in getting rid of the scales. What else can I do? I live in Dallas, Texas and water every third day due to our heat but how do I prevent the new leaves to get covered with the white scales?

Appreciate any advice you can give me!

If you have ants associated with the scale, you will need to control them as well.  The two seem to have a symbiotic relationship attacking plants frequently. How big is the Sabal and is it a height you can use physical effort to get the heavy areas removed?  My wife has been caught with a wet paper towel wiping off the underside of leaves when they are being attacked and the frond is low enough.   High pressure hose is the other tool.  Often with horticultural oil it requires more than one application too.  Just a few suggestions others have shared that keep it under control.

One other comment is that they seem to like areas with poor air flow.  If the crown of your Sabal is crowded by adjacent trees or plants, thinning them might help avoid future infestations.

Thanks, no ants. I have sprayed w neem oil and watered with systemic pesticide but still see the scales. Airflow is fine it has the center place in my backyard and. nothing really competing with it.
How often should I water it during the harsh summer we are having 100 more or less every day?

If it's palmetto, you could water pretty much daily and flood it out

I'm sure it would appericate the extra water since it's very hot, I don't know anything about texas sabals though :blush2:
