Chambeyronia Macrocarpa toast?

@SCVpalmenthusiast I would give it shade where you are for sure . At least for a few years. Lots of water in the warmer months . Mine grew into the sun from deep shade and burned every summer until I figured out that it wanted more water. I now water every other day , spring through fall , and it helps a lot. Congratulations on your new palm. Harry

Yea, I believe this spot is perfect, it’s pretty much dappled sun in the early morning and full shade the rest of the day. Picked it up from Riverside, it’s been grown from seed in a similar climate. It was under queen palm canopy.

This is morning sun and the damage to the leaflets 😢

This was the last red leaf from earlier this year . I grew this from a little 4” pot I brought home from Maui. It is now flowering regularly with about 5-6’ below the crown shaft. Since it broke through the canopy , the red leaf lasts about 3 days , that’s all. The fronds on these are very large . HarryIMG_1289.thumb.jpeg.0269918c6744b458acd5cf82897c7f58.jpeg

You can see a bit of burn , but no where near as bad as a couple of years ago . It now gets at least twice as much water as before. 75181777175__2E18DC9C-43A5-4E7A-B2FF-75B54842B1F2.thumb.jpeg.cfcf2c563d3155acd55a62bdbfb54ab3.jpeg
This shows the size of the fronds in relation to the crown and trunk.

That's an excellent palm tree, Harry. Very exotic and tropical. Your palm tree is worth more than ten palm trees put together. They are exotic and unique palms. There's a Botanical Garden there. Congratulations! And I can imagine the happiness and pride that brings you, my friend.

Beautiful Harry, how many years did it take to grow this size?

That one is the same age as my Pritchardia H. I bought two palms from a nursery in Maui . They were in 4” pots ( seedlings) about 16 years ago. The first five years were painfully slow for both , but then they grew moderately fast . I get 3-4 fronds a year on the Chambey , the Pritchardia gets more but is slower to gain height.
The interesting thing about my Chambey is that the parent palm was the most beautiful Watermellon variety I had ever seen , with brilliant mottling. The grower had several and they all had the same mottling. As you can see , mine has very little . Harry

The two pictures are about a year and a half apart . The second picture is from an old batch of photos.

Finally got around to cutting the 3-4 foot high grass around this palm and the trail leading to it.  Not the best lighting but it's HEALTHY.   Bought a 1 gallon plant from FB back in 2020.  Here is is 6 years later.  First two show the grass that grew WILD after 21" of rain in March and 5  more in April.  Cleaned it up yesterday.

Nice markings on that one! Similar to the parent of mine , mine ended up with very little of the effect. Harry

Here’s mine growing in Phoenix!! So if you treat them right they are tough palms!!
