Palmetto State Park in Gonzales, Texas

Palmetto State Park near Gonzales in Central Texas .It gets rainwater typically in the Spring and can go extended periods of time with no rain, As it has this Summer. With little detriment to the native Sabal minor.

Opuntia engelmannii var. texana:Yucca aloifolia all over a hillside a few miles from the state park. Not native but no development in the area. Origin unknown:Stopped at Kreuz Market on the way home got barbecue:

Nice photos. Definitely one of my favourite parks in central Texas. I've seen some truly massive snapping turtles in the central pond there.

I only make it there every few years but it’s one of my favorites. The atmosphere of ordering directly from the pit is hard to beat. The barbecue and sides are excellent as well.

Once I saw this thread it made me start looking for vacation rentals in the area
