Anyone seen a new spear twist before?

Featured Replies

This robusta has been in ground over two years and has always looked a little ratty and hasn’t grown as fast as the others. Grasshoppers have been eating at it lately. I’ve noticed the newest spear is twisting. Why could this be?

What the heck.....

Never seen that happen with mine, but mine overall looks just about like yours does. For some reason it just hasnt taken off since being planted last year.

I should ask though, has it been fertilized? Based on how green the other fronds are i would venture to guess that it has, but im also not sure if a twisting spear means boron deficiency.

Looks very similar to mine, I fertilized with Palm Gain

Classic boron deficiency, most likely your fertilizers don't contain any or the palms just aren't taking it up.
