I went out to water and I've noticed a couple days ago some ants were crawling on my chamaerops but didn't think anything of it but then I looked closer today and seen these little brown spots and I'm not sure what they are doing? Are they farming whatever that is or is it a aphid?

I have neem oil and copper fungicide or should I spray them with water or hand strip each leaf?

Those are scale insects. Easiest to just strip them off by hand at this point... That will get rid of the ants too.

Thanks! Will do! I'll go back over them with neem once I finish just to be sure :greenthumb:

That was easy, I can't spray them with anything because it's raining, so I'll have to do that once it's over, but the ants went away just as quick. :D

Does copper fungicide work on black spots? They look like mold spots on the leaves?

Spray a paper towel with windex and use it to remove the scale. The ants won't like the windex either. Double whammy.

I do this with my alfrediis regularly this time of year due to the humidity. Works every time and doesn't harm the plant.

Hey homey, I have a thread in this subforum called "Is this a fungus?" - maybe some good info for you in there.

I actually hand removed all the scale and the ants are gone but this is a good tip if they return, thanks!!!! :D

I looked at the forum and my leaves have like little black dots on it including the new growth, I put like maybe a teaspoon of fertilizer in all the pots just as a little hit of nutrients but I'm unsure if I should spray them with something because it looks like mold.

Did you just add fertilizer or something?

I feel like I should get a direct photo of what mine looks like

Tagged you in my other post. I fertilized the crap out of that c. Benezeii based on recommendations of others. It'll take a while for me to see a difference esp as slow as this one grows.

I didnt wanna do a full fertilizer yet because they still are fairly new transplants but hopefully a teaspoon was enough :greenthumb:

Does windex harm the leaves in any way? the ants and the scale has returned for a second time

I was worried about that too, but I trusted my uncle's advice (he said it'll never hurt the plant) and I've been doing it for at least 6 months. No issue so far with any of the foliage.
