A few photos of this palm from Micronesia which feels right at home here in East Hawaii. Nice habit with a tidy crown of recurve leaves and straight trunk. The inflorescence can look a bit messy, but a nice palm nonetheless.

Nice looking palms. I planted a couple in May 2020. They are growing nicely but will need years to look like Tim's.

Meg, not sure about in situ conditions, but I’m at 600 feet elevation and the palm seems to love its home. The soil isn’t particularly deep where it’s planted, but there is enough fracturing in the rock for roots.

This is my one and only Ponapea that I just happened to photograph today.  

 

I planted it in 2018 from maybe a 3 gallon size.

Great to see what this species looks like all grown up at your amazing place Tim!

 

An updated photo after cleaning the inflorescence up a bit. Hasn’t grown much, which is nice, but always a nice habit and carefree.

Looking good Brad. Mine is a seed factory, just covered in inflorescence of various stages. I just trimmed them all off and the palm looks so much better. I need seed like a hole in the head.

Its a pretty palm, when I bought it, I'd never heard of it and didn't know what it would look like.

Hey Jason, I’ve got a few seedlings coming up, I’ll check them this morning and how they are doing. Happy to give you a couple if you’re not in a big hurry.

Another reason to live there, too bad its out of reach for me! I tell myself many people would feel the same way about where i live and to count the good stuff. The grass is always greener and all that.  I wonder if they can handle a minor freeze (prob not) and nights in the mid 70s for 4 months.  The plants that speak to me the most are cloud forest types, not just palms but flowering plants too, and this one looks like it wants to be another "pretty from afar" plant for Florida but i could be wrong.

No hint of color, but maybe later? Or is my label wrong?
 

With all my BI palm colleagues contributing to this topic, I just had to enter my own documentation. Purchased two as foot-tall seedlings in July 2019, planted out in May 2020. They have grown like rockets. Here they are today, lawn chair for scale.

An update to what is turning out to be a nice palm. The crown shaft is really pink. I’ve trimmed most of the inflorescence off, like the cleaner looks.

Cindy, yours looks to be another species than P.  Ledermaniana, although could be in the same genus. The habit is a bit different, the trunk is way too thin, and the seed is not red and not near enough quantity.

Yours is so very nice and mine should probably go back to the unknown/lost label list. 

And my wish list gets longer. 

 

Mine is around 4 years now from a 1 gallon, yet to flower.
