Please help me ID this Licuala (Mapu/Maculata?)

Hello there,

I just bought this Licuala labeled as Mapu online and while scouring the internet for more info to prepare the perfect environment, I stumbled upon pictures of juvenile Licuala Maculata. Im a bit confused now tbh. The leaf structure doesn’t seem right for a Mattanensis. Can anyone confirm the ID?

Thank you!

Thank you, you might be right :( I didn’t have this one in the radar. Hope to get more opinions on the ID. The seller still insists it’s a Mapu..

Definitely not mapu. The first guess is in my opinion correct

I do believe Steve is correct with the Lanonia ID. Your palm is definitly not a ‘mapu’.

The first photo is a ‘mapu’, and the second a Lanonia dasyantha.

Good luck!

Lanonia dasyantha is still a very, very nice palm, but I understand your disappointment. Mapu is much more showy.
