    That is a nice one.  The Epic freeze of 2021 killed a large one at my sister's house in Brenham TX.  When it bloomed it was a honeybee magnet!

    Not sure what the minimum temp is for the Texas Ebony but the one in Brenham saw 6 F,  plus a week below freezing.  It was well established and had seen many winter temperatures into the mid-teens!  :(

    I saw a couple at Barton Springs in Austin not too long ago. Its generally listed as a zone 9 tree so no dice for me.  I am done with zone pushers after the last few winters.

    I am still still shell-shocked from the 2021 winter to even replant the losses!

    These are a sound 8b tree in dry climates out west.  A week below freezing is probably a no-go, though... An 8b like Kingman, AZ for example would never even have a whole day below freezing.  Probably my favorite tree - this or Eucalyptus papuana.

    My house is only 3 years old, so mine are both babies.  Here they are, though:

    Should mention there is one at a nursery in Cave Creek, AZ that is probably 35ft tall with a 2ft diameter trunk. Massive.

    This is one of the largest ones in the yard, the trunk has to be over 2 feet across
