I'll be going to the US at the end of October till mid November.  I'll be going to Baltimore and New York (but I don't expect to see palms there) and will spend around 6 days in Las Vegas.

Is there a Botanical Garden or Specialty Nursery in Vegas where I can see a lot of Palms and  Cycads?

I wouldn't mind taking home a plant or 2-- hehe :P

Dear Gene  :)

i do not know much about U.S.A and their botanical gardens but iam shure that in las vegas there are lots of hotels around which you will see more of CIDP,Date palms & other phoenix.

And the best is near the ceasers palace hotel_try that out !

Wish you a happy and palm surfing holidays in the u.s.

Kindly take you digital camera when you are in Las vegas, and iam keeping my fingers crossed in anticipation of CIDP visuals.

Lots of love,

The Bellagio's Garden may be as close as youll get (very contrived)...other than the usually majestic landscaping around the major hotels  Wynn...Bellagio...Cesars..Mirage

unlike the predominant color green...here in Florida...LasVegas is very brown.  6 days in Vegas...Eeeek...better be a good convention

You might be carrying home some cacti

Coming to Baltimore ?

Let me know when and if we can arrange it, would be glad to show you Longwood Gardens. .....Acres of outdoor gardens and acres of indoor conservatories.  A nice palm house, orchid house, desert house, fern, bromiliad etc, etc, etc !!!!

Xerophyte-nyc:  If I can get the nursery name early enough I can arrange to have permits.  I'd like to obtain plants that aren't available in manila of course.

Tew:  Thank you very much for  the offer- that's very nice of you but I think that with all the relatives I will be visiting I will not have the time.  I am going to my sisters wedding so things will be hectic plus you have to make the obligatory visits and  attend the impromtu reunions.  But thanks for the suggestion- I've heard of Longwood Gardens and I think I visited there when I was a kid-- I will obligate one of my relatives to bring me there if we can squeeze it into our schedules.
